2017年8月 マレーシア留学振り返っての感想

夫の教育方針に従って、文化の違いを探るために2013年2月に単身マレーシアに英語学校に一か月間留学しました。
そこで実際に出会ったのは多国の人達でした。学校は韓国人が経営していて、先生はマレー人、フィリピン人、南アフリカ人、食堂のおばあちゃんは中国人で学生は日本人と韓国人。
一周間ぐらいでショッピングモールでマレーシアの友達ができました。その友達はマレーと中国のハーフで旦那さんは純粋のマレー人。両方ともイスラム教徒で一日5回も礼拝するのは当たり前で、なんでそうしなきゃいけないのかを私にはとても理解できません。
とても神秘で不思議な宗教だと思っています。

宗教そのものが私にとって神秘で理解できないです。
キリスト教もそうですし、なぜ神様が人を作ったのを信じるのは理解できません。

In according to my husband's education policy, in order to explore the different cultural differences, in February 2013 I went to Malaysia,in a English school for a month.

Actually I was there where I met many people in different countries. the English school was run by a Korean guy, and teachers are Malay, Filipinos and South Africans, the chef in the cafeteria is a Chinese woman, students are Japanese and Korean.

He spoke of why the dropout rate in the United States will be so high, belongs to several issues in education.

his speech,because my husband also told me before we plan to have a child. so that we planed to early educate our child. This is also the reason why my husband don't want our child to go to the school.we planing to study on line at home.

子育て基本コンセプト Basic concept for kids education

こんにちは、ゆいの夫しんやです。

わたしたちの子育てに関する基本コンセプトを紹介いたします。


一言でいうならば、わたしたちは子供を国際人に育て上げたいと考えています。さて、「国際人とは、どういう人のことでしょうか?」たしかに定義は難しいです。が、ここ

におおまかな要件を挙げてみたいと思います。

 

・多言語に精通している(うちの場合は、中国語と英語は完全にマスターさせたいと考えています)

「外国語がしゃべれる」というレベルは、個々人によって受け止め方がさまざまで、たとえば、旅行先でホテルを予約したり買い物ができる程度でも「しゃべれる」と考える人もいますし、しっかりとしたビジネスの場での意思疎通や交渉が出来て、はじめて「しゃべれる」と考える人もいます。うちはまちがいなく後者を「しゃべれる」の条件にしています。

・異文化、多宗教に順応できる(これは非常に微妙な問題なので、ここでは省略させていただきます)


あともう一つは必ずしも「国際人になるための要件」ではないのですが、わたしはコンピュータに強いので、子供たちにも基本的なことは伝えたいと思っています。
わたしは長い間、学校教育や雇用問題について考えてきました。そのそもそもの発端を簡単に紹介したいと思います。

わたしの父は、戦後の荒廃した社会の中で「金の卵」ともてはやされ、日本の産業を支える安価な労働力として、京浜工業地帯のある工場で経験を積み、みずからも会社を興して40年ほど仕事一筋に生きてきました。しかし、プラザ合意やバブルの崩壊の影響で仕事がうまくいかなくなり、酒に溺れ、短い生涯を終えました。

わたしは卒業後にすぐに就職できるよう、高校は情報処理科に進みました。しかし、バブルの崩壊が実体経済にも深刻な影響を及ぼし始めていた1994年ごろ、わたしが高校1年生のころから早くも、毎日のように担任の先生から「コンピュータ関連の企業が軒並み倒産している」というような話しを聞かされました。父の工場の経営状況を見ても、「本人がどんなに真剣に努力しても、景気の循環、経済危機、グローバル経済の構造変化を前にしては、なすすべがない」ということを思い知らされたのです。そこでわたしは、「外国語を身につけ、新しいテクノロジーをすぐに取り入れながら、刻々と変化する状況に順応しなくては、安定した生活を送ることはできない」と考えるようになったのです。
今、わたしたちが重視しているのは「イスラム文化への理解」と「早期教育」です。わたしが30歳のころ、1年半ほど、東京で家庭教師として働き、教育現場をまぢかで見ました。まあ、わたしが中高生のころとほとんど変わりはなく、「裕福なものほど高学歴に進む」という傾向は非常に顕著で、「知識の暗記を重視し、感性や創造性を押しつぶしてしまう」という点も相変わらずでした。インターネットが普及し、スマホやタブレットなどがどんどん低価格化している昨今の状況を見ても、また新興国のめざましい発展を見ても、日本の学校教育の形骸化は「変化する状況への順応」をますます阻害するものとなっています。わたしたちは学校教育に依存することなく、子供の脳を活性化することを重視しています。そこで注目しているのが、ナショナルジオグラフィックで紹介された「アベセデリアン・プロジェクト」です。下にビデオを載せましたので、ぜひご覧ください。
わたしたちの「子育て方針」を要約するならば、多言語、多文化に精通させるために、その時点での最適コスト、最適ロケーションを選択していくということです。今のところ、マレーシアを注視していますが、今後の国際情勢によって、その場その場で臨機応変に最適な環境を見つけていくつもりです。

This is Shinya,Yui's husband. I would like to introduce the basic concept for our kids education.

 

It's simply that we would like to make our kids cosmopolite.

So what are the characteristics of Cosmopolitan? Hard to difine, but let me try to recite the conditions.

 

・Being able to speak foreign languages fluently (in our case, Chinese and English)

・Ajusting to Multi-cultural society

 

And one thing I would like to teach them is the basis of computer skills, since I am quite interested in this field, though it is not an important condition for being a cosmopolitan.

 

I had been thinking about school education and job problems for so long, so I would like to show you how I was originaly getting interested in those problems.

When Japan was still shattered after the long lasting war, my father came to Tokyo  at his age of 15. Thousands of young people were gathered by "Group Employment" from rural areas, so they were called "Golden Eggs", since their cheep labor cost contributed to boost its economy and enabled high productivity. My father was one of those cheep workers, and probably my mather too.

After several years of experience, my father started his own factory. He was working in the same industry for about  40years, and every time he drunk, he told me "I did my job, that's the only one thing I am proud of. so you have to have steady job". Well, what was that all about after all?

Plaza agreement in 1985 deprived competitiveness of japanese export, and collapse of bubble economy devastated japanese society, my father's business also grew stagnant. While his work was cutting down, amount of alchohol was increasing. He finished his life at 56, a lot shorter than japanese average life expectancy.

 

I enrolled the course of information process in my highschool so that I would be able to get a job before graduation. When I was 16, it was the time bubble economy burst gave serious influence to actual business all around Japan, my class teacher told us "A lot of computer and software companies have become bunkrupt" almost everyday. From those experiences in my puberty, I realized that even if you really try so hard, in front of those stormy effects such as boom-bust cylcle, economic crisis, structual transformation of global business, you would be just powerless. this lesson of hard time foundamentally determined my personality, and I started thinking that I need to master foreign language and new technologies quickly, otherwise I cannot have a stable life.

 

Lately we weigh heavily on "Understanding Islam culture" and "Early childhood education".

When I was about 30, I was working as tutor for a year and a half, so I could see what was going on in Tokyo's school education. Well, things were not very different from my school days. The tendency of "More rich, Higher education background" was still robust. Atitude of teachers was also pretty much the same, so children were forced to memorize huge amount of knowledge with so much of sacrifice of their sensitivity and creativity. As smartphones or tablet PCs are getting cheeper and cheeper, and internet is getting faster and spreading toward poor countries, in addition of the fact that emerging countries are growing rapidly, Japan's school education seems to be losing its competitiveness in fast-moving global business.

So we are not dependant on school education in Japan and China, we are paying attentions to activating kids brain. We are now interested in "The Abecedarian Project" introduced by National Geographic Channel. Please click the link below.

The bottom line of our concept for kids education is to choose the best location with reasonable cost (especially cost for safety and internet environment). At the moment, we are learning about Malaysian culture and society, but it is only a begining. We are going to flexibly change the course of our journey, as international situation changes.
